Clinique is not made for acne. But many people use it because of their skin type and how the products make them look. If you are older and have oily skin, Clinique is a perfect option.

What is acne?

Like your home and family, your body has a biological makeup that progresses throughout childhood and adolescence.

During this phase, called puberty, your body goes through hormonal changes that affect every cell in your body. Because of these changes, your skin also undergoes some significant differences.

Artificial sweeteners (NutraSweet, Equal, etc.) and artificial dyes. Artificial sweeteners are often created in a lab, so they don’t have to be natural. They are also usually produced using benzene derivatives. Varying studies have found either a positive or negative correlation between consuming these food additives and developing acne. However, since there’s nothing natural about them — the ultimate deciding factor is whether or not you experience a break out from consuming them.

Cyclic, monosodium glutamate (MSG). This is a ubiquitous food additive that carries the risk of causing breakouts and brain damage. You will find MSG in everything from canned soups to processed meats.

Soy products. Many people believe that soy is healthy for them — but the truth is more complicated than that. Soy can be beneficial for you if you eat a diet rich in plant foods, as long as you aren’t eating too many soy products. If you aren’t eating many of these foods, you may want to see your doctor about how much soy can be healthy for your body.

High levels of sugar. There’s nothing inherently wrong with sugar — it’s a natural food that is important to your body’s survival. However, many people consume too much sugar, which can lead to a lot of problems — including breakouts. People naturally have oily skin need to be especially careful about how much sugar they consume.

Grass-fed beef and dairy products. It’s always important to balance your diet, and getting too much animal fat can cause acne breakouts for people prone to them.
