Is Rodan and Fields Cruelty-Free in 2022? SHM Answers!

Sharing is caring!

Rodan and Fields is cruelty-free.

As a cruelty-free brand, this means that Rodan and Fields doesn’t test ingredients or their skincare products on animals.

Unlike other big brands like L’Oreal, Johnson & Johnson, and similar brands, R & D has instead decided to opt-out and offer cruelty-free products for their booming audience.

Whether you’re buying your products directly from the company or are buying from other retailers like Amazon, you’ll be able to get products that are not tested on animals.

The fact that this company is a big and popular one makes it even better. Many other beauty companies of this size find it hard to do this.

While this doesn’t mean you can’t products that haven’t passed through testing, it does reduce the pool of products to choose from.

So, if you’re looking for essential skincare products to add to your collection, you can actually go with Rodan and Fields.

Is Rodan and Fields 100% Vegan?

No, Rodan + Fields isn’t 100% vegan. What does this mean? It means that some of their products still contain animal ingredients such as Beeswax. However, not all of them have that so you can find a lot of them that are vegan.

If you’re a vegan, this is where you need to pay more attention. To ensure you’re buying a vegan product from Rodan and Fields, you need to know those products that are free from animal-derived ingredients and those that are not.

To make it easy for you to distinguish between the two, here is a list of products that aren’t vegan:

ENHANCEMENTS Mineral Peptide Powders – Honey Extract, Cholesterol
ESSENTIALS Lip Shield SPF 25 – Beeswax
ESSENTIALS Body Moisturizer – Hydrolyzed Milk Protein
REDEFINE Age Shield Balm SPF 30 – C10-30 Cholesterol/Lanosterol Esters
REDEFINE Brightening Hand Treatment – Hydrolyzed Sericin
REDEFINE Pore Minimizing Toner – Lactobionic Acid
REDEFINE Eye Cloths – Honey Extract

Therefore, anytime you want to buy from this brand, you need to check this list. Once you acquaint yourself with this, you won’t buy any of their non-vegan products mistakenly.

Is Rodan and Fields Worth It?

I’ll say yes. The fact that the company strove to get on the Peta list and be certified a cruelty-free brand is enough to see their commitment. Of course, they may still need to do more such as making all their products 100% vegan.

Right now, we are just going to hope they’ll do it.

Many of the big named brands like Olay, Aquaphor, L’Oreal, Cetaphil, etc., are not cruelty-free. Some of these brands don’t care whether animals are suffering or not.

Brands like R+F should be supported with patronization. Many of these brands try to get better and improve their production processes. But sometimes, they just need some validation from customers like you.

Is Rodan + Fields Certified?

According to Rodan and Fields, all of the products from the brand are non-vegan.

Some R+F products contain animal-derived ingredients even if just milk or honey, so they are not certified as a vegan.

For that reason, if you’re looking for a vegan brand, then Rodan and Field isn’t the brand you’re looking for.

Is the brand FDA certified?

Not all products from R + F can be said to be FDA approved.

While the brand claims that the ingredients used in some of the products are compliant with all FDA regulations, many of the products lack initial approval from the agency.

For a product or brand to be certified, it has to not use animal-derived ingredients in its product. As well as not providing financing for animal cruelty and testing.

One thing I like about Rodan & Fields is that the company is upfront with its practices. You can easily verify yourself on the company website how it produces its products and ingredients used.

When it comes to being cruelty-free, R+F has it.

The ingredients aren’t tested on animals nor are there traces of cruelty in the production of its skincare products. Only that the brand hasn’t been certified by any organization yet (which can happen at any moment).

Unfortunately, you’ll have to look for other brands if you want vegan or 100% certified products.

Where Can I Shop their Products?

Rodan and Fields is an extremely popular brand. As a result, you’ll likely find the brand’s product in major stores and retail outlets.

If you’re buying online, you should be able to shop for Rodan + Fields products on Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Sephora, and a host of other stores.

You can also shop directly on the official website, which should list all the products the brand currently has on sale.

Is Rodan and Fields A Good Brand?

Rodan & Fields is a successful skincare brand and is one of the top-selling brands in the United States.

Anytime you read a company is a top seller or has a popular product, it means the company is doing something right and a lot of people love it.

One of the great things about the brand is that it uses safe ingredients like retinol, alpha-hydroxy acid, kojic acid, all of which have a positive effect on the skin.

If you’re looking for a reputable brand for your skincare products, then Rodan + Fields is worth committing to. In addition, R&D is one of the few cruelty-free brands in the industry, and that says a lot.

  1. Was reading about it. It’s cruelty free which is super important to me, but one question I do ask are the animals that do provide milk and honey treated humanely or is it a factory environment.

    1. Hi Linda,

If you’re asking about the animals providing milk and honey, then those are normally treated well. Because the better they’re treated, the healthier they are. And the healthier they are, the quality of their produce.

However, these animals are quite different from those used for testing. In most cases, these animals don’t provide milk or honey. Examples are rabbits, rats, pigs, etc. They are used as factory experiment. And as you suspect, they aren’t treated humanely.
