Psssst Dry Shampoo Discontinued: True or False?

Sharing is caring!

No, the Psssst Dry Shampoo was not discontinued but recalled by the manufacturer. The shampoo is among a big list of shampoos recalled by Procter and Gamble brands due to Benzene contamination. There is an article on FDA.org stating that the brand (Procter & Gamble Company) willingly recalled some of their shampoos (including the Psssst dry shampoo) in December 2021.

Here is the post from the FDA if you’re interested in finding out more.

That means you won’t be able to get some version of the shampoo going forward. However, my research shows that some versions are still available if you want to stick to the brand. I’ll list some of the ones I found below.

Where to Get Psssst Dry Shampoo

As you can see from the above, the shampoo has been recalled. However, while browsing Amazon, I found another iteration of the product, from the same brand.

It could be that there are a few different versions of the shampoo, so you need to be sure of the one you’re looking for. Here are the names of the ones I can find, still available on some large online stores:

  • Psssst Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo – Available on Walgreens at the time of writing this article
  • Psssst Deep Clean Dry Shampoo Oily Hair – Available on Amazon at the time of writeup

How Do You Know When a Shampoo is Discontinued?

There are a lot of signs that can lead you to believe a product is no longer in production. The first sign is usually scarcity but not always.

The other, and very common, is for the manufacturer to state that it has been discontinued.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t always happen as many brands don’t say when they are stopping a product.

They just stop it and you’ll only find out when the product becomes unavailable and you ask the brand.

Also, there are quite a few reasons a brand may decide to stop a product. It may be due to poor sales or to allow for a new product.
