Skinceuticals vs Drunk Elephant: Which is Better?

Sharing is caring!

Are you looking for an in-depth comparison of Skinceuticals vs Drunk Elephant? If so, you’re on the right page.

Both Skinceuticals and Drunk Elephants are great brands, with plenty of products to choose from. Though they’re similar in their product lines, there are a few differences you want to pay attention to when you’re choosing.

No matter what you already know about both brands, a little extra information won’t hurt. That’s why in this article, I’ll be reviewing two products from both brands to help you decide the best for your skin.

This will be the Drunk Elephant Ferulic Serum and Drunk Elephant’s C-Firma.

You can also look at other products offered by both brands. Most will be similar to the ones reviewed here so the same concepts can be applied when choosing them.

So, let’s look at both.

Skinceuticals vs Drunk Elephant: Which is Better?

  • Most Skinceuticals products contain L-ascorbic acid, a potent form of vitamin C. This is different from the usual hyaluronic acid and glycerin found in most of Drunk Elephant’s products.
  • Although Drunk Elephant is a cruelty-free brand, Skinceuticals is not. So, if you’re looking for a cruelty-free brand, your best option is Drunk Elephant. Moreover, Drunk Elephant is particular about its formula, making it natural and organic so you can buy products that are free from unwanted ingredients like fragrance, parabens, sulfates, etc.
  • Both brands are expensive, however, Skinceuticals may be more expensive. Sometimes though, this isn’t the case. So, it depends on the product you’re buying. Anytime your budget is small, go with Drunk Elephant.

Drunk Elephant C E Ferulic Serum

Prevent C E Ferulic is an antioxidant daytime serum designed for normal to dry skin with discoloration and signs of aging.

This product provides advanced environmental protection against photoaging and photodamage.

This serum is also great for sensitive skin. It has a slew of benefits, including anti-inflammatory and anti-wrinkle properties. But what makes it stand out from the crowd is the price tag: it costs nearly $100 less than other similar products.

CE Ferulic is a topical serum that contains 15 percent pure vitamin C and 0.5 percent ferulic acid, which is a patented combination of two other ingredients.

Vitamin C is an excellent antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals. It also reduces the appearance of dark spots by inhibiting the production of melanin.

And ferulic acid is an organic compound found in plant cell walls. These ingredients work together to promote skin regeneration.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Serum

In an effort to improve the potency of vitamin C, Drunk Elephant recently revamped their C-Firma day serum. The new formula now contains 15% LAA, one of the most potent forms of vitamin C available.

This vitamin is also the most finicky, and Drunk Elephant has made some changes to improve its shelf life.

The serum still contains 15% vitamin C, but it is deconstructed and made shelf-stable to avoid any risk of oxidation.

It also contains 0.5% ferulic acid and 1% vitamin E, making it the perfect choice for those who are looking to brighten up their skin.

The new C-Firma Fresh Day Serum comes in an air-tight bottle. It requires a little assembly to make the product work, so the powder and liquid serum base must be mixed together.

Then, twist the pump lid to mix the product. The serum comes out a lighter color than the original. The serum is a little sticky, but it doesn’t stain your fingers.

To make it even more effective, Drunk Elephant has resorted to revising and reformulating the original cream.

The new formula is called C-Firma Fresh, and it contains a new modality to extend its potency. Although its formula is similar to the original, this new version is a bit more stable.

Drunk Elephant products are known for being effective, and their sulfates-free formulas are also biocompatible.

The Drunk Elephant C-Firma Fresh Vitamin-C Serum contains three key ingredients: Ferulic Acid, Vitamin E, and antioxidant botanical extracts.

The formula also contains Lactobacillus/Pumpkin Ferment Extract, Marula Oil, and Glycyrrhiza Glabra root extract. The latter is considered to be the most potent brightening ingredient.

Skinceuticals vs Drunk Elephant: Final Words

Both Skinceuticals and Drunk Elephant has a lot of product you can choose from. If you’re having skin problems or are trying to revive your skincare routine, then both brands are solid.

What you need to do when choosing is to understand your skin and what it needs. You’ll then consider your budget.

Generally, Skinceuticals is more expensive than Skinceuticals. So, if your budget is tight, you may want to look at the robust catalog that Drunk Elephant is offering.

However, one thing with Drunk Elephant is their products are very effective, especially the Ferulic Serum.

Most people are fund of their products and they’re cheaper. So, it’s important to put that in mind as you compare both brands.
