Some people think that the Ordinary and Glossier are too expensive. But what they don’t know is that effective skincare is expensive. And if you want to take good care of your skin, you have to choose the best product. 

Moreover, if you already have damaged skin, you do have a lot of options. But price alone won’t be enough. Because there are dozens of cheap and affordable skin products that are not effective and some are borderline harmful. 

What I’m trying to say is that both The Ordinary and Glossier are good brands. But you have to be sure you’re choosing the right one for your skin.

The Ordinary vs Glossier: Differences

Glossier’s serum is a lot more expensive than The Ordinary serum. So, if you’re looking for an affordable serum, I’ll go with The Ordinary.

In addition to that, The Ordinary moisturizer is also less expensive than Glossier’s moisturizer. In terms of price, The Ordinary is a better option than Glossier.

So, if you’re looking for low-priced, quality skincare products, you may want to try The Ordinary. Glossier products are very effective, just like The Ordinary. It’s the price that delivers it up.

The Ordinary vs Glossier: Which Brand is More Effective?

Glossier Super Glow Vitamin C Face Serum

Like any other beauty brand, Glossier has a lot of cool products to choose from. One of these is the face serum with Vitamin C extract.

To talk a bit about face serums:

If you’re looking for a good serum, this is one to consider. A face serum can do a few good things for you. It can help alleviate the visible signs of fatigue.

If you’ve been losing sleep and your face seems dull, using a serum can help you brighten it up a bit.

Another important benefit of a face serum is that it can smoothen your skin surface as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

I’ll also like to mention that serums can help your skin retain moisture. So if your face is dry for whatever reason, you may want to try out a daily serum like the Glossier Super Glow.

It comes with Vitamin C and Magnesium. As a potent antioxidant, Vitamin C can rid your skin of free radicals as well as activate the skin’s natural regeneration process.

Verdict

Glossier is a cruelty-free brand, which means they don’t test or finance the testing on animals. Therefore, if you’re looking for a natural, cruelty-free face serum, go with the Glossier Super Glow Face Serum.

The downside is that it’s a little expensive. But if you can look past the price, it’s a lovely serum to have.

Glossier Balm Dotcom

The Glossier Balm Dotcom is a popular lip balm with lots of flavors to choose from. It’s essentially a hydrating lip balm that’s filled with emollients and antioxidants.

As visible on the small bottle, this product will help chapped or cracked lips become softer and moist without leaving a bad residue.

The balm contains Lanolin, Beeswax, and Castor Oil. Here are some benefits of the ingredients mentioned for the lips: Castor Oil, like it’s siblings has been used for decades as a laxative for soothing dry skin.

It can nurture any part of the body; in this instance, dry lips. Although Castor Oil is simple vegetable oil, it’s a powerful laxative, a natural moisturizer, and promotes quick healing of wounds.

That’s why they end up in most lip balms. They not only condition cracked lips, they can also soothe it. Lanolin is a wax/oil that’s derived from animal skin.

However, it’s a little more powerful. It can penetrate into the chapped lips where it drops moisture, which makes dry and chapped lips soften and heal faster.

This is another great product from Glossier, still focusing on the face. And it’s very popular too so you’re going to find a lot of information about it aside from what you read here.

Unlike the Serum above, this balm is a little cheaper. With lots of great ingredients and benefits for dry lips, this can be a good balm to add to your collection.

Glossier Priming Moisturizer

This is Glossier’s Moisturizer for your skin. One of the things I like about the moisturizer is that it’s described as ‘being lightweight’.

When you use a lightweight moisturizer, it doesn’t weigh down on your skin aside from making it feel fresh. It’ll also be easy to watch off compared to a heavy or creamy moisturizer.

And as posited by Glossier itself, the lightness allows you to apply multiple layers without feeling irritated (that depends on how your skin is feeling though).

Like any other product from Glossier, its ingredients are non-tested on animals, it’s dermatologist-recommended, paraben- and fragrance-free, and most importantly, can be used on all skin types.

If you’re looking for a natural moisturizer without all the bad ingredients and that is also affordable, then you should consider checking this out.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid

This is a lightweight serum that contains 2 of hyaluronic acid to maintain healthy-looking skin through replenishing lost moisture. The pH level of the serum is 6.50 to 7.50, which is at the natural level for the skin.

It is also cruelty-free and vegan, great for anyone who wants to avoid skincare with animal-derived ingredients.

In addition, it’s free from many of the common chemicals like glutens, parabens, silicones, oxybenzone, etc. It is unscented and doesn’t contain oil, mineral oil, nuts, and mercury.

The serum is water-based, which means it can easily be rinsed.

It’s equally easy to apply. Just drop a few to your face in the morning and at night before your creams. If it causes any form of irritation, then you can stop using it.

It is suitable for adults and for the treatment of acne.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors is very similar to the Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid in that it also contains hyaluronic acid.

In addition to that, it features both triglycerides and ceramides, which are humectants that’ll help lock in moisture and provide surface hydration for the skin.

The moisturizer is lightweight and non-greasy, designed for people who want to treat signs of dehydration.

It is free from common chemicals and cruelty-free. If you’re looking for a pH-balanced moisturizer that can help you maintain healthy-looking skin and enhance the skin’s barrier, then look no further than this.

You can get it from the likes of Amazon, Sephora, Ulta, and a few other places. The best place to get it though is through the manufacturer’s website. This is because there is a multitude of fakes for this product. 

There is no way you can get the fake version if you buy directly from the official website. You should always try and buy from the manufacturer directly at all times.

Many people have complained of being sold fakes after purchasing products like this, especially if they’re expensive, even on Amazon.com. You might be paying more when you order on the manufacturer’s website but this will ensure you get what you pay for. 

Final Words on Choosing The Ordinary or Glossier

From the above, you can see that both brands are good. And very effective too! However, if you’re working with a tight budget, you’re more likely to get a good deal with The Ordinary than Glossier.

With the two products I reviewed, serum and moisturizer, Glossier’s version turned out to be more expensive.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider Glossier at all. They offer very good products too. It’s just that many people would rather go for the cheaper one if they are going to get the same benefits after all. And we can’t fault that.
