Clinique vs Lancôme: Background Information

When it comes to skincare regimes, the variety of brands out there in the market is endless. This can be very confusing and overwhelming when it comes to choosing the right one for you.

Some aspects to have in mind are prestige, variety, skin adaptability, and price. Even if they are environmentally friendly and cruelty-free.

In this section, we will take a further look at the products and qualities of two of the most loved skincare brands around the world. The American Clinique, and the French Lancôme.

Variety

Both brands offer a wide range of skincare products, makeup, toiletries, and perfumes. However, Clinique has a slightly bigger variety when it comes to cleansers, moisturizers, exfoliating products, and anti-aging solutions.

In fact, Clinique is very well-known for its 3-steps regimen. These are products that are suggested by their consultants. However, you should know that choosing is dependent on your skin type and main concern.

Skin type

Lancôme is better suited for oily skin, while Clinique gives better products for sensitive, dry skin.

All of the skincare products offered by Clinique are 100% fragrance-free, while the ones by Lancôme have a pleasant scent.

Clinique offers non-comedogenic moisturizers that also include a 30PFS sunscreen, while the creams by Lancôme are parabens, sulfates, or phthalates free.

Price

Clinique products are considerably more expensive than the ones offered by Lancôme, but this is counterbalanced by the fact that its products last longer.

Sustainability

Nor Clinique nor Lancôme are cruelty-free, although they are both somewhat sustainable brands.

Lancôme’s brand owner, for example, L’Oréal, has updated its policies to minimize greenhouse gas emissions.

The company is also working to reduce CO2 emissions by 60% by the end of 2020. In addition, 100% of the sesame oil that the brand uses comes from certified, fair trade.

The downside is that a lot of Lancôme products use a varied quantity of chemicals. They are labeled as red’, with most of them being petroleum-derived ingredients.

As for Clinique, the brand supports ethical practices. In fact, the company has launched its own project for the sustainable production of palm oil to minimize environmental impacts such as greenhouse gas emissions.

What is everyone else saying?

Both brands have their fair share of loyal customers, featuring almost the same amount of followers on social media.

Clinique skincare products are as loved today as they were decades ago, surviving the test of time. Lancôme, on the other hand, seems to be more favored by makeup customers, having what is arguably the best mascara in the market.

Lastly, if this is something that is important to you, Clinique Customer Service is better rated than Lancôme’s.

Lancôme Bienfait SPF 30 24-hour Moisturizing vs Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer

This is one of Clinique’s popular products for all skin types. It’s a facial moisturizer that’s formulated for adding even and smooth skin around the face area.

It also contains emollients that can soften the face and keep it supple. The cream is light so it easily absorbs into the skin.

This is a good thing because you don’t have to wait too much for the action to begin. Like other moisturizers, it also helps the skin absorb moisture and retain it, which is good for keeping the skin hydrated.

The cream is equally formulated with fruit extract, which is important for balancing the skin moisture retention rate. The hyaluronic acid content also fights and reduces fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

With barley extract, the cream is going to improve the skin’s resiliency. Moreover, it’s easy to apply during the day or at night depending on your schedule and preferences.

The Lancôme Bienfait is designed to be used on all types of skin, ranging from normal to dry to sensitive skin.

This Lancôme moisturizing cream is enriched with vitamin E which contains powerful antioxidants that may help reduce the effect of UV on the skin.

If you want to protect your skin from the damages that can be caused by free radicals or even nourished it so it looks smooth and healthy, then consider the Bienfait Moisturizing Cream.

The formula in the Lancome Bienfait is also greaseless and provides a moisturizing effect for a full day. This means it can leave your skin supple all day, without any dryness.

The Lancôme Moisturizer also boasts of vitamin B5, which can keep the skin smooth, soft, and healthy. What I really like is that it has hydrating properties that can absorb moisture from the air and deposit it on your skin.

Aside from being recommended by the Skin Care Foundation, the Bienfait Multi-vital SPF is also a non-comedogenic cream. This means it won’t cause blocked pores on the skin when used, especially on sensitive skin.

Verdict on Clinique vs Lancôme Moisturizer

While the Lancôme moisturizing cream delivers 24-hours hydration, you’ll only get 8-hour from the Dramatically Different Moisturizer. If you prefer a longer action, I’ll recommend you go for the Lancôme moisturizing cream.

You can use the Clinique Moisturizer as a facial lotion for cleansing and face smoothing. However, the Bienfait Multi-vital SPF can be used as a sunscreen and is fragrance-free too. Fortunately, it’s very affordable, especially if you’re buying online.

Lancôme Renergie Lifting & Firming Cream vs Clinique Repairwear Uplifting Firming Cream

While it’s certainly expensive, this cream seems to be worth its cost. It’s reported to be effective against wrinkles and fine lines, making way for skin that’s smooth and clean with few side effects.

The cream is made in the UK and formulated for dry skin and can be used by both men and women who’re having skin issues.

The cream can also improve the skin’s elasticity and firmness, which is very important. When the skin becomes loose and slack, it harbors fine lines and wrinkles, which can be unsightly especially if it’s the face.

Finally, you can use the product with any of the other Clinique creams. You can use it alone if you want to.

Don’t forget this product isn’t a miracle. So, make sure it’s suitable for your skin before buying.

Lancôme Renergie Lift Multi-Action Lifting & Firming Cream

The Lancôme Multi-Action Lifting & Firming Cream is a thick alternative to the Clinique Firming Cream. It’s creamer and promises to make the face look firmer and smoother.

It doesn’t have phthalates, sulfates, or parabens so that you can get a natural treatment for your face. It also has a pleasing fragrance that’s not too strong.

You can use the Lancôme Firming Cream on normal or combination skin. It claims to be an anti-aging cream for all types, which I see as a step above the Clinique Moisturizer.

So, if you’re looking for a cream that can help you lift wrinkles and minimize fine lines, you can try this.

The Lancôme Lifting & Firming Cream comes with SPF 15, which can help in preventing damages from the sun UV. If the claim is true, you should start seeing results in a short time.

Verdict on Clinique vs Lancôme Skin Care

The Clinique Uplifting Firming Cream is 100% fragrance-free, which the Lancôme Firming Cream comes with a fragrance that’s not too strong.

The Clinique Facial Cream is considered pricey, so you might want to go for the Lancôme Lifting Cream if you’re on a budget.

If you’re looking for a mild cream, then go for Clinique as it’s lightweight. Lancome, on the other hand, is creamy, so you should go for that if you’re looking for a thicker lotion.

The Lancome cream can be used as an anti-again cream while the Clinique is best used as a daily facial moisturizer.

Clinique vs Lancôme: Final Thoughts

As you can see, if you’re looking for makeup, moisturizer, and other skincare products, both brands have. They also have anti-aging products you can try, but that’ll be covered in another article.

I hope you are able to get one product from either of these brands for your facial conditions and skincare problems.

  1. Hi Thanks for this article and feed back regards to products. In my case I bought the lancome hydration and sun protection from Lancome last week. The results has not been as expected. My skin tends to be dry on face aldo living in cold weather makes it worst. So I have been thinking to exchange this products to clinique line. Do you think its a good idea and if so which would you recommend from clinique if my intention is to have a more moisturized skin. Thankyou again for the feed back.

    1. Hi Kathia, Sorry for your predicament. Lancome has some good hydrating cream but I don’t know the one you bought. The result may have not been what you expected for a number of reasons. As you may have suspected, it may be because of the weather or your skin type. However, if this is a moisturizer or cream that you bought, it should at least help in the cold weather. Maybe your skin is just reacting to it. If possible, I’ll get a sample next time before buying. That way, you’re able to see what will work for your skin.

As for Clinique, there are a few good products you can look at. This include the Clinique moisturizing bb cream and the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel. I don’t know where you’re based but you can get these products on Amazon. But I’ll first try to understand what skin type I have and then choose based on that. Here is an article that I wrote recently that details how to check your skin type: https://www.style-hair-magazine.com/cerave-vs-eucerin/.

Once you know your skin type, you should read reviews from people who have used the product you want to buy. You’ll see people mentioning their skin type and how the product does. If from your observation the product is effective for your skin type, then go for it. Overall, I’ll try to get a sample from your local drugstore or salon. Test it out and see what your body likes.
