Sulwhasoo vs Laneige: Which One Is BEST for Your Skin?

Sharing is caring!

Both Sulwhasoo and Laneige are Korean brands. If you’ve used Korean skincare before, you know the brands over there take pride in their products.

The creams are different from what we’re used to seeing in Western countries. From the high price tag to the potent ingredients used in the product. This is what Sulwhasoo and similar brands are known for. Laneige is equally good but is it comparable to Sulwhasoo?

If you’re interested in any of the two brands, there are a couple of products from both that you can compare. This is the Laneige Time Freeze Intensive Cream and Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream.

Here are some of the differences between Sulwhasoo and Laneige:

  • The active ingredient in the Laneige cream is Hyaluronic Bouncing Waters while that of the Sulwhasoo is Compound K.
  • There are a lot of variations of the Sulwhasoo, so your chances of choosing the right one are better. Laneige, on the other hand, is only available in a handful of versions. So, your choices may be limited.

Sulwhasoo vs Laneige – Product Reviews

Laneige Time Freeze Intensive Cream Ex

The Laneige Time Freeze Intensive Cream is an elastic and moisturizing care cream. This means that it’s designed to improve your skin’s elasticity so it has all the precious structure you like to see.

Also, if you have dry skin, the product claims it can provide needed hydration to ensure your skin stays supple and soft.

It comes with Ceratonia Siliqua fruit extract and Hibiscus Abelmoschus seed, both of which strengthen the skin protective barriers.

Other ingredients provide anti-aging properties such as the hyaluronic bouncing water for moisturizing the outermost layers of your skin.

While it’s easy to apply, the package comes with a manual so there isn’t going to be any hassle when using it. This is a good thing if you’re using it for the first time.

Ingredients

Just like the Sulwhasoo cream, the Laneige Intensive Cream is filled with plenty of ingredients.

To be honest, I prefer a skincare product to have fewer ingredients as that’ll definitely lower the number of possible irritants if there are any. But now that this is the case, there isn’t much to be done other than to accept it like that.

Packaging

The moisturizer is available in a small, silver-looking mirrory card box. It comes with a spatula and manual, both of which can make first-time users feel like a pro.

To get the best from the cream, follow the instructions in the manual. The spatula is added to aid in picking up the cream instead of having to use the hand.

Even with that, it’s still not very healthy as the chances of germs getting in are higher. I’ll prefer a moisturizer in a bottle with a cap. But since this is a Korean product, it seems that’s what is popular there.

Benefits and Drawbacks

It has a thick texture, which gives it a firm feeling when applied. It can absorb into the skin quickly just like the Sulwhasoo. In terms of packaging, it’s not the most practical. Moreover, it’s just as expensive as its counterpart.

Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream

The Sulwhasoo Conocentrated Ginseng Cream is one of the most expensive skincare creams out there. It’ll set you back a whopping $240, depending on where you’re buying from. And for a reason.

Korean creams are a different set from those of US and other Western brands. Most of these creams come with herbal and potent ingredients that not only have positive effect on skin but also far less to have side effects of other creams that are formulated with chemicals.

This cream, as you can see from the name, is infused with the Korean red ginseng, which helps to ameliorate signs of aging like wrinkle fine lines, while also replenishing the skin’s smoisture.

The cream is ideal for harsh winter conditions or if you have very dry skin. It’s richly moisturizing and is very effective.

The texture is fast absorbing and rich and you can use it on sensitive, dry or combination skin. It’s also suitable as a night moisturizer.

The most important thing is that this moisturizer works and a lot of users have praised it over many other. With the only downside being the price. As you know, good things don’t come cheap.

Ingredient List

The ingredients that goes into the cream is carefully selected to ensure maximum purity and effectiveness. As you will soon see, most of the ingredients are either manufactured or grown by the R&D department in the company.

This way, the brand is intimitate with everything that goes into the cream. And also to ensure that it works the way brand wants. Some of the ingredients includes:

Ginseng, shea buter, meadowfoam oil, jojoba oil, honey, glycerin, beta-glucan, hyaluronic, avocado oil, licorice extract, water lily, peony, retinol and salicylic acid/BHA.

Verdict

Why most wouldn’t be able to make this their regular moisturizer, I suspect it’ll be a worthy purchase for anyone who is able to afford it.

But if you can really afford it, I don’t see why you shouldn’t try it. Especially if you have dry, sensitive skin that needs to some moisturizing.

Final Thoughts on Sulwhasoo vs Laneige

Both Laneige cream and the Sulwhasoo are expensive, both Laneige is the least expensive. It’s the more affordable version of the two.

Fortunately, there are several varieties of the Sulwhasoo so you can easily get one that’s affordable and even cheaper than the Laneige Time Freeze Intensive Cream.

Both are Korean products, so if you’re reading from the USA or other European countries, this may be outside of your jurisdiction.

On another note, they’re both available on Amazon at the time of writing this article.
